I’m Praying for You

Somewhere along the way, we bought into the lie that we have to do it all on our own.  Self-sufficient and all that.

But inside we feel the loss, even without realizing it.  We weren’t meant to carry it all..to walk alone.

Just like me

Part of it, I think is that we only interact with people who already think exactly like we do.

I am at a loss with the inability of many to be able to engage in friendship with anyone who sees the world differently than they do.  Some of the people I respect the most have perspectives on things that I completely disagree with.

Can we not find the value, discourse on the difference, and remain cordial?  It’s no wonder we feel isolated!

Listen, I know I’m not the only one who has opinions on just about everything.  And I’d be naive to think that every one of my readers agrees with every one of my many opinions.  But you’re still here.  Bless you.

So here’s what I want you to know… I’m praying for you.

That can sometimes sound trite or insincere, but here’s what I picture as I say that to you today:

There is one who is able to carry whatever burden you’ve got, answer your questions, turn your eyes in the right direction, and fill your life with His very best.  What I am promising you is that I’m asking those things on your behalf.

Life is hard.  God is good.  We need each other.

At my darkest times, I didn’t reach out to anyone, even my closest friends.  Friends who I knew would love me and speak truth to me.  Because the thing is, when we’re struggling, thoughts like these run through our minds:

Surely they’ve never struggled with THIS.

I can handle it myself.

They wouldn’t understand.

I’ve learned since then that we don’t have to understand to encourage.  We don’t have to have walked exactly the same path to shine a light.

Another thing I’ve learned is that falling apart lives aren’t the only ones that need prayers.  As the body of Christ, we owe it to each other to be praying for one another.  If we don’t, we will fail.  Repeatedly and often.

I heard someone ask recently, “Would a soldier walk into an open field without cover?”

And here’s the loveliest thing of all…we can cover each other whether we are the closest of friends or have never met.

We can do it even if we disagree on things.  Even if we see the world differently.  Even if our lives look nothing alike.

So right now, as you read this, you can know that YOU are being brought before the throne of our good God.  And whatever it is that your heart is longing for today, I pray that you would find it in Him.

Because life is hard, God is good, and we really do need each other.

Tell me, is there anything specific we can pray for you?

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit, of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.  I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.   Ephesians 1:17-19

We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience.  Colossians 1:9-11

Who needs to know that you’re praying for them?

I’ve created some images you can download and share to let them know.
