As of 2015 if you buy a John Deere tractor, you do not own it. You only have an implied license for the life of the vehicle to operate said vehicle.
You are not supposed to do any repairs yourself, only use authorized John Deere service representatives. If you use a third party repair shop, to replace the transmission, for example., John Deere tractors have been known to disable themselves so they can no longer be driven.
The same thing is going on with Apple iPhones and other cell phone manufactures.
As well as Video Game consoles made by Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and twelve others.
There is Legislation in Minnesota, Nebraska, Massachusetts, New York, Kansas, and Wyoming; trying to grant a right to repair anything you buy.
This made me think of our own lives. How often do we make a mess… then try to clean it up ourselves. But Like John Deere, Apple, Samsung and others feel about their products, do we own our own lives?
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NASB)
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.
Proverbs 19:21,20 (NASB)
Many plans are in a man’s heart,
But the counsel of the LORD will stand.
Listen to counsel and accept discipline,
That you may be wise the rest of your days.
If we try to fix ourselves, the warranty won't hold because we can't fix ourselves on our own.
The mind of man plans his way,
But the LORD directs his steps.
Isaiah 41:10 (NASB)
‘Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
