“…if ye continue in my word…”
Introduction:
Often, I have been asked this question: ‘How much truth is necessary for one to obtain salvation?’ My answer is this lesson. I want to define truth. Truth is synonymous with the Word of God. There is a goal we should reach when we are searching the Scriptures: “You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that testify on my behalf. Yet you refuse to come to me to have life” John 5:39, 40, NRSV. “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:17. “11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Psalm 119:11.
Ephesians 4:15, “But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.”
2 Thess. 2:10-13, “…damned [condemned] who believe not the truth,…”
Psalm 119:11, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
John 1:14, 17 “…spirit and truth..”
John 4:23, 24, “…worship him in spirit and truth…”
John 5:33, “…he bears witness unto the truth…”
John 8:31-36, “…if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free…. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
John 8:40-46, “…a man that hath told you the truth…”
John 14:6, “…I am the way the truth and the life…”
John 17:17, 19, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
More Scriptures: John 15:7-10; Titus 1:9 & 2:1; Galatians 6:7-9; 1 John 1:6-8, 2:4-6; 2 John 1-4 and 3 John 3, 4.
Ephesians 5:1, 2, 13-21, Walk in love, be wise.
Conclusion:
John 3:20, 21, “For everyone that doeth evil hates the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that DOETH truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”
