"For thus says the high and exalted One Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, 'I dwell on a high and holy place, And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the contrite'" Isaiah 57:15.

We cannot be two places at once, but our Creator is able to do so. Not only does He dwell in a high heaven realm, but also in the lives of those who are humbly repentant. As He indwells such people, He revives their spirit. And who doesn't need some reviving these days?

Our Father's promise is echoed in the words of Jesus in the Beatitudes of His Sermon on the Mount: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for their is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:5). Those who are burdened by the weight of sin and regret are given the richest promises. Relief may not fully, or even partially come in this age, but it most assured will come in the age to come. That assurance is cause for persistence and optimism.

Peter the apostle shared this very promise when he declared: "repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19). The repentant are promised revival from within.

You may be in a season of rejoicing today. If so, we rejoice with you. But, this may instead by a time of trial and hardship. It may seem spiritually that you are in a hot, dry desert without water or refreshment. These promises will be especially encouraging to you if so. Your Father dwells within you to revive your spirit. Times of refreshing will come. Above all, it is richly encouraging to know that you have a heavenly Father who cares enough to know your condition, and to indwell you to provide relief and revival.
