"I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
All things; really? I have a personal list of highly-improbable accomplishments such as: expert pianist, major league baseball player, and airline pilot. Jesus certainly COULD accomplish these things in me, but is it His DESIRE to do so? The key is, in Christ, what does He wish to accomplish in and through me?
As a young teen, I was asked to read scripture one Sunday. To this day, I have vivid recall of my nervousness. My voice literally shook as I read, and I vowed that day I would never again take a public role in a church service. Having served as a church pastor for over forty years, that vow has long been broken. Whatever abilities I might have in a church pulpit must surely be attributed to Christ, because of my own ability I am still a teen with a shaky voice.
Someone recently read an interesting verse from Exodus 35 concerning God gifting certain individuals to be skilled in the work of building His tabernacle: "He has filled them with skill to perform every work of an engraver and of a designer and of an embroiderer, in blue and in purple and in scarlet material, and in fine linen, and of a weaver, as performers of every work and makers of designs" Exodus 35:35. Unskilled workers were divinely-equipped for expert craftsmanship.
What task or work have you been called to in Christ? Most assuredly, He HAS called you because none are left on the sidelines to merely observe. So, what is it He has called you to? Know that you are well able to do that which He calls you to because "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me."
May we claim this promise and faithfully serve in the power He provides, for His honor.
