"O LORD, the God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven above or on earth beneath, keeping covenant and showing lovingkindness to Your servants who walk before You with all their heart" 1 Kings 8:23.

The mention of “the God of Israel” seems especially poignant these days in light of recent Middle East developments. He ever remains the God of covenant with His people, in spite of the fact that His covenant people have long rejected their Messiah. We cannot help but wonder if current events factor into opening the eyes of these His people.

This God of covenant shows “lovingkindness to Your servants who walk before You with all their heart." This great fact is a wonderful encouragement to each of us. With undivided loyalty and devotion, we can anticipate His special favor as we live and serve Him. This lovingkindness is not necessarily a guarantee of ease and wealth, but definitely of His loving and kind disposition toward us. Thus, we are the apple of His eye.

This God of covenant is faithful to remember and bring to fulfillment all His has promised, as we read in Acts 3:21 - Jesus, "whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time." All is not lost; in fact, nothing is lost with Him who has promised to restore all things. Nothing is so badly broken that the God of covenant cannot and will not restore!

We truly serve an incomparable God. May you be refreshed in His lovingkindness today as you remember His unceasing, unchanging covenant with you through Jesus.
