The Story Continues...

"And he stayed two full years in his own rented quarters and was welcoming all who came to him, preaching the kingdom of God and teaching concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all openness, unhindered” Acts 28:30-31.

The end of the story isn’t really the end of the story. It is considered that the apostle Paul was released from prison, traveled to other areas with the gospel message, and eventually was imprisoned again and killed. Acts, however, ends with him faithfully declaring he kingdom of God and teaching concerning the Lord Jesus Christ.

This is where we enter the story. The book of Acts is the unfinished story of the further declaration of the true gospel. It falls to each generation of gospel-proclaimers to further propagate this great life-saving message. It may not be for us to travel extensively as did the apostle Paul, but it is both our mandate and privilege to share it within our sphere of influence. In so doing, we take part in what Jesus prophesied when He said, “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come” Matthew 24:14. The name of Jesus is familiar to many if not most people, but so few understand His connection with the good news of the kingdom of God. Until this kingdom gospel is widely made known, the end will not come.

How do we participate in the ongoing story of the book of Acts? It need not be complicated or burdensome; we simply make known the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ through casual conversation, social media, and/or any other means before us. We make it a priority to understand this great gospel, and couple this understanding with an eagerness to share.

The time is right for someone today who is receptive to hear what we have to share. Someone is placed in your path this day that may not be responsive to anyone else other than you. What a privilege! May we each be faithful, sensitive, and eager to share the gospel seed, as our Father causes it to be grounded, take root, and grow. The cause of Christ and the kingdom will be advanced today as we yield to the great work of making the gospel known.
