Find True Wealth & Happiness

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.  He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” Revelation 3:20-21

The people of God in the ancient city of Laodicea were lukewarm; smugly self-satisfied. They based their spiritual condition on their creature comforts, and could not have been more wrong as to their true condition, as Jesus clearly pointed out. Repugnant as they were to Christ, they were not beyond help and hope. He graciously and patiently knocked and waited for fellowship with them if they humbly repented and returned.

Some would say that Laodicea best represents our times and situation. While there may be a parallel, it need not be so if we are responsive. Responsiveness to the knock and the voice can signal a turning point. A sumptuous feast of fellowship with Him awaits if we return. As overcomers, He promises, there is room on the royal throne for us. What a gracious invitation!

The lessons of Laodicea are not lost on those with ears to hear. The voice that beckons is not condemning, but rather reconciling. None are too far gone who will hear His gentle knock at the door of our heart.

If we place too high a priority on the home we live in, the car we drive, the technology that amuses, and the bank accounts that comforts, then it is time for introspection and re-evaluation. The Master beckons to us to find true wealth, health, and happiness in Him.
