As We Grow Older

We either grow old,  or we don't!

There are no other choices for any of us, but as Wally says:

"So you feel old? I bent down to straighten out the wrinkles in my socks and discovered I wasn't wearing any. My train of thought frequently get derailed. As soon as step through the doors of store, I forget what I was going there for. If opportunity knocked today, I couldn't hear it because most of the time I have my hearing aids off. My happy hour is a nap before I go to bed. My joints buckle now, but my belt doesn't. About 90% of my dreams are reruns. When I first started talking about walking to school it was just two blocks. Now, I have it up to 10 miles in the snow uphill both ways. After all these years I know my way around, but I don't feel like going. I can remember when Heinz had only one variety. Anyone can get old, all you have to do is live long enough."

He always seems to know 'how' to say it. Aging isn't always easy, and sometimes we yearn for those days when we felt so young, vibrant and alive, but probably for many of us those days are past.

Yet, hopefully, we can look back and feel a measure of satisfaction with how we've lived our lives as part of the Family of God.

As Paul said so long ago, "I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness. . ."
