The season of resolutions is almost upon us. For many people, the new year serves as a benchmark for life decisions and changes. Lose weight. Exercise more. Be more productive, and disciplined.
What about resolving to walk more closely with your Creator and Father? "Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near." (Isaiah 55.6)
So long as we have life and breath, He may be found. He is near; all we need do is draw near to Him. But, His gracious offer can easily be neglected. Perhaps tomorrow I'll spend some time in Bible reading and prayer. Perhaps tomorrow I'll carve out some time in my schedule to sit in silence before Him, listening for His still, small voice. But, tomorrow may never come.
My recent schedule has been anything but "normal." Vacation and travels have made it much too easy to neglect my quiet time with my Father. This morning I returned to that place and time where He and I so often meet. I felt my heart warmed by His presence. My mind was less cluttered and distracted than it has been in recent times. Names and needs were brought to my mind, which I brought to Him in prayerful concern. Joy welled up within me as I reconnected with the One who knows me better than I know myself.
