A recent court case in Italy is interesting.

Italy's top appeals court overturned a conviction against a homeless man from the Ukraine, who stole cheese and hot dogs worth $4.50, because he was starving.

Their judgement is that if you are starving, theft of a small amount of food is not a crime.

Makes me wonder what the stores in Italy, or even here, would think of that ruling?

However, as Christians, that isn’t the food that ultimately concerns us:

John 4:10, 14:

Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water. whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

John 6:43a,48-51:

Jesus answered and said to them…
I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.”

Matthew 5:6:

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied."

And our food is free if we accept Jesus as our Savior.
