First things first. Having our priorities in order is ... well, a high priority. At the top of the list is one abundantly clear priority: "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Matthew 6.33)
The "kingdom agenda"and its associated lifestyle is to be priority number one for the disciple of Jesus. This, He says, takes precedent over an obsessive fixation on daily needs such as food, drink, and clothing. We do not neglect to work to obtain these things (2 Thessalonians 3.10-13), but they do not become our number one pursuit.
To daily impress on our minds the kingdom priority, we pray the model prayer: "Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6.10) Making this our prayer priority, we then are guided to kingdom priorities with our time, money, and energy.
Just what this kingdom priority looks like differs from person to person. For some it will be teaching, preaching and writing. For others, assisting the helpless and needy. Still others will find expression through evangelistic activities and action.
Make the kingdom of God top priority. May a passion for its progress and advancement unless a mighty force of workers.
