"O LORD, the God of Israel, there is no god like you in heaven or on earth, keeping covenant and showing kindness to your servants who walk before you with all their heart" 2 Chronicles 6:14.
It must surely grieve our Father that there are so many substitute, false gods. He alone rightly deserves to be honored and worshiped, and is absolutely incomparable. He is, first of all, the God of Israel. There is an old saying, "how odd of God to choose the Jews." More than once, they have been called "stiff-necked," but God has chosen them to be His covenant people. His design is for them to be a light to the nations, regardless of how well they have done.
We can literally be eternally grateful that He keeps covenant. What He has promised He will fulfill. Acts 3:21 says it best: "(Jesus) whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time." His restoration promise is for natural creation, and for our mortal bodies, is a promise you can absolutely count on.
A covenant is an agreement between two parties. His promise is to show kindness to His servants. Our part in the covenant is to walk before Him with all our heart. We will never regret this wholehearted walk now in that God "in the ages to come ... might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus" Ephesians 2:7. That's the greatest kindness we ever have, or ever will, experience. That kindness is being expressed even now as we are being prepared to experience it in full measure in the coming kingdom on earth: "His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature" 2 Peter 1:3-4.
Why turn to any other god besides the True and Living God? This God of Israel is in covenant with all people who come to Him through Jesus Messiah, His only Son. He is showering us with kindness both now and in the coming age. There is great joy and blessings in walking wholeheartedly with HIm. May you experience a full measure today.
