Jennifer Bolande did an art installation in California. She paid to have billboards show an image of what was behind them. The idea was to draw the eye to the beauty of the nature view behind the billboard.
The ideas being that most people often focus on the billboards and ignore the broader view of beauty that can be seen behind the billboards.
If we turn to the Bible:
Isaiah 6:3 NIV
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”
Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
The folks that put up the signs want people to slow down and notice the beauty around them
psalm 46:10a ESV
Be still, and know that I am God.
God uses the beauty of our surroundings to help us remember him and his creation.
