Welcome Home?

ICE/ISEE-3 was launched in 1978.

It was the first spacecraft to be placed at the L1 point in orbit of Earth which let us measure solar and geomagnetic phenomena,

It was the first spacecraft to fly through the tail of a comet in 1985, and later did it a second time in 1986 with Haley’s comet.

After that it had been in heliocentric orbit, traveling just faster than the Earth, and caught up with us from behind and passed by in April 2014.

It is still functional with 12 of its 13 instruments working.  It still has plenty of fuel to handle more missions for us.

So what did we do with it when it arrived? NOTHING

In 1999 we threw away all of the equipment that would let us talk to it.  To rebuild the equipment would cost too much money.   It is still sending us a signal, but we can no longer understand what it says or talk to it.

1 Corinthians 14:21b (NASB)
I will speak to this people, and even so they will not listen to Me,” says the Lord.

Let’s make sure that we are still listening to what God is saying to us.
